Benedict calls for new focus on God in life and liturgy
In a rare public statement Pope Benedict has called on the people of today to once again make God the centre both in their daily lives and in the liturgy (the public, community worship of God). He noted that even the liturgy can be distorted when people use it to focus too much on their own needs and creativity rather than on the God whom they are worshipping. For people today, "the things of God and thus of the liturgy do not appear at all urgent," said Benedict. "There is an urgency about everything else. But the matter of God does not seem to be urgent."

Floods in different parts of globe 'are mostly manmade'
Over recent weeks the damage caused by hurricanes in the US has received massive media coverage, but flood disasters have also hit many other parts of the world, from Nepal and Cambodia to Ghana and the Congo Republic. The climate change industry is divided over how to link the flooding with man-made global warming or how to spin the disasters. Michael Mann, an American professor of atmospheric science, wrote in the Guardian, for example, that "we cannot say climate change ‘caused’ Hurricane Harvey" but it "worsened the impact".
